Consent in Aura

Assign consent forms to services, then sign them per treatment on the Treat stage before an administration can be completed.

2 min read · for clinician, manager, owner · updated 27 September 2026

In Aura, consent is never a tick box. A treatment episode's consent comes from the forms signed against it, for the service being given. Until every required form is signed, the treatment cannot be recorded as given.

Before you start

  • A manager or owner assigns consent forms to services under Settings → Consent forms. Open a form, click Services, and under Required before treatment for tick the services it covers. Save. The form row then reads Before treatment for: with the service names.
  • Services come from Settings → Treatments.
  • To sign a form in clinic you need the administer capability for Aura, and the episode must be open.

Steps

  1. Open the patient's Aesthetics (Aura) tab and select the treatment episode. Click the Treat stage.
  2. In the Service and consent card, choose the service in the Service dropdown. This decides which forms are needed.
  3. The Consent forms list shows each form as Required or Optional, with its version and either Not signed or Signed with the date. The header shows progress, for example 1 of 2 signed.
  4. Click Sign next to a form. The form text opens first. Complete any fields the form asks for.
  5. Under Signature, choose Typed name, Initials or Drawn. The patient signs on the practice device.
  6. Click Record signature. Repeat for every required form.

What happens next

  • When every required form is signed the header changes to All required forms signed.
  • The Record treatment as given & set recall button becomes available once at least one administration is recorded.
  • Each signature keeps the form's version, the date and the staff member who recorded it.

Common problems

  • Choose the service this episode records to see which consent forms it needs — pick a service in the Service dropdown first.
  • No required consent form is assigned to this service. Assign one in Settings → Consent forms. — the service has no required form. A manager must tick the service on the right form.
  • The Sign button is missing — the episode is completed, or you do not have the administer capability.
  • Service no longer offered — the service was archived after it was chosen. Choose a current service and sign its forms.
  • The patient signed at a consultation — that does not count. The Consent card on the Consult stage says so. Forms are signed on the treatment episode, on the day.
