The Advanced Chart tab is a second, more detailed way to chart the same patient. It draws Maxillo's record with a richer tooth view and saves the whole chart as a numbered revision. Every record has both charts; this article explains when and how to use this one safely.
Before you start
- The Advanced Chart saves everything at once. When you save, the chart as shown replaces the record, including anything charted on the Odontogram tab since you opened this one. Use one chart per session, and save before you switch tabs.
- Only clinical roles can save. Others can view.
Steps
- Open the patient and choose the Advanced Chart tab. The header tells you whether you are looking at a saved revision or "showing the Odontogram tab's records" because nothing has been saved from here yet.
- Choose which view you are charting in. Status view records the mouth as it is. Plan view records proposed treatment, drawn dashed. The legend line at the top confirms which view you are in.
- Set what new findings mean with New findings: existing or New findings: completed. This decides how anything you draw in Status view is recorded.
- Chart on the tooth diagram. Click a tooth to open its panel, which shows Charted findings, Planned items and Imaging for that tooth.
- In the panel, switch a finding between existing and completed with → completed or → existing. When planned work has been done, choose Treatment delivered.
- To propose a filling without leaving the panel, use Plan a filling: tick the surfaces (M O D B L), choose the material and press Plan. To put a planned finding on a treatment plan, pick the plan and choose Add to plan.
- If you change a tooth that already has proposed treatment, a message appears: "This tooth has proposed treatment on the plan". Choose Change the status chart to update the mouth as it is, or Cancel and switch to Plan view to change the proposal instead.
- When you are done, press Save chart. The button reads Saved when there is nothing to save. Use Discard changes to reload the last saved chart instead.
What happens next
Saving creates a new revision and reports what changed, for example "charted, updated, removed". The Odontogram tab now shows the same record. Images tagged with a tooth appear in that tooth's panel, with Open Images / X-rays for this tooth to jump across.
If you try to leave the tab with unsaved charting, Maxillo asks before you go.
Common problems
- Save chart is greyed out — there are no unsaved changes, or your role cannot chart.
- "Could not save the chart" — someone else saved this patient's chart while you had it open. Note your changes, reload the tab, and re-enter them.
- Work done on the Odontogram vanished — it was overwritten by a save from here. Re-enter it, and keep to one chart per session.
